Why Pipeline Matters
At Digiteyes, we believe that premium visual effects aren't accidents, they're the result of meticulous planning and execution. Our VFX pipeline is the backbone of everything we create. It's a structured framework built over years of working with demanding clients across luxury, automotive, gaming, and entertainment sectors. This methodology ensures consistency, quality, and on-time delivery, while allowing room for creative excellence and technical innovation.
What sets a professional studio apart from amateur operations is how they handle complexity. A single VFX shot might involve tracking data, rotoscopy, 3D modeling, lighting, rendering, and compositing. Without a clear pipeline, these tasks become chaotic, inefficient, and prone to rework. Our pipeline orchestrates these interdependent processes, with clear handoffs, quality gates, and version control at every stage.
Pre-Production: Where Great VFX Begins
The foundation of any successful VFX project is laid long before cameras roll. Our pre-production phase begins with deep briefing analysis. We don't just listen to client requirements, we interrogate them. What are the creative intentions? What are the technical constraints? What does success look like? This conversation informs every decision downstream.
Storyboarding comes next, where we visualize the VFX work and identify challenges early. We create detailed storyboards showing camera movements, element placement, lighting conditions, and VFX integration points. Technical scouting is equally critical, we analyze the shooting environment, lighting conditions, and potential tracking issues. If we're supervising on set, we plan the technical infrastructure: where to position markers, how to capture HDRI data, what reference materials we'll need.
- ◆Comprehensive briefing analysis with stakeholders
- ◆Detailed storyboarding with VFX integration notes
- ◆Technical scouting and location assessment
- ◆On-set VFX supervision planning and logistics
- ◆Equipment and crew allocation
- ◆Timeline and milestone planning
Production: Capture What You Need
When we're on set as VFX supervisors, our role is to ensure the production captures everything the post-production team will need. This means setting up proper blue or green screen with tracking markers placed strategically. Poor setup on set means expensive rework in compositing, we never let that happen.
We capture HDRI (High Dynamic Range Image) data under various lighting conditions to ensure our 3D elements will integrate photorealistically. We take extensive reference photography (lighting reference, color reference, surface reference) that will guide our 3D artists. We monitor playback, flag potential issues immediately, and communicate with the director and DP about VFX integration needs. Live-action supervision is preventive medicine for post-production.
On-Set Excellence
The 80/20 rule in VFX: 80% of post-production quality is determined by what happens during production. Proper setup, clean footage, and good reference materials save days of rework later.
Post-Production: The Creative Engine
Post-production is where vision becomes reality. Our pipeline flows logically from matchmove to final delivery, with each stage building on the foundation of previous work.
Matchmove & 3D tracking is the foundation. Our specialists use sophisticated software to extract camera motion and scene geometry from footage. This data becomes the blueprint for all 3D work. A clean matchmove saves time downstream; a sloppy one creates cascading problems.
Rotoscopy & keying require patience, precision, and artistic judgment. We hand-trace elements frame by frame, extract talent from backgrounds with razor-sharp edges, and create the clean plates that compositing depends on. In the age of AI, we've integrated AI-assisted rotoscopy tools where appropriate, but human judgment always guides the output.
3D modeling, texturing, and look development transform simple geometry into photorealistic assets. Our 3D team uses reference photography, HDRI data, and art direction to ensure materials look authentic. Lighting is equally critical, proper lighting integration is what sells the composite. We render with multiple passes (beauty, shadow, reflection, etc.) that give our compositors ultimate control.
Compositing in Nuke is where all elements come together. Color grading ensures the final image has cohesion, mood, and cinematic quality. We work in linear color space, manage all color science carefully, and deliver with proper gamma and color space specifications for the final medium.
- ◆Matchmove & camera tracking with sub-pixel accuracy
- ◆Rotoscopy and keying with clean edge definition
- ◆High-fidelity 3D modeling and texturing
- ◆Photorealistic lighting and rendering
- ◆Multi-pass rendering for compositing flexibility
- ◆Professional Nuke compositing with all VFX passes
- ◆Color grading and final image refinement
Quality Control & Client Approval
Quality doesn't happen by accident,it's built into the process. We conduct internal review rounds before showing anything to clients. These reviews catch technical issues, creative misalignments, and opportunities for improvement. We look for pixel-level perfection, consistency across shots, and adherence to art direction.
Client approval workflows are structured. We deliver clearly labeled versions, track feedback in a centralized system, and communicate revision scope transparently. We manage expectations about what can be changed at different stages of production. Late-stage requests for fundamental changes are addressed honestly: scope, timeline, and budget implications are always clear.
Delivery: Format Flexibility & Technical Precision
The final stage is delivery. We don't just hand over files, we deliver to specifications. A 4K video deliverable isn't just any 4K; it's properly color-spaced, formatted for the intended platform, with correct audio, timecodes, and metadata. We deliver 8K stills for print applications, DCP files for cinema distribution, and format variations for social media, broadcast, and digital platforms.
We maintain detailed documentation about render settings, color profiles, and technical specifications. We deliver source files when needed for future revisions. We're available for post-delivery support because we stand behind our work.
Premium VFX is visible through its absence, the audience feels the impact without questioning how it was made. That's the goal we chase with every project.
